the artist
I’m Jean Staral, an illustrator, surface designer, and dog mom living in the heart of the Midwest. The landscape and changing seasons inspire me to make art. I love my flower garden, art materials and recreating the beauty I find in everyday life.
When I began working in graphic design I was self-taught and enthralled. Fifteen years into my career I went back to school for design; the world opened up.
I have recently reclaimed my time and can now pursue my own projects. As a result I am embarking on my second (or third or fourth) career with more love and enthusiasm than ever before. I am happiest when I am drawing and find even the most unrelated experiments often overflow into art I want to share.
Please contact me for more information on any project or for another collaboration.
the supervisor
like many supervisors, Doc is not much good when it comes to actual, hands-on work. In fact, he has little experience and less ambition. On the other hand, he is wonderful for reminding staff they need regular breaks, walks, and treats.
There is no way to get the job done without him.
the studio
Creating is messy business. While I am fairly tidy before and after, the during tends to flow all over the place. This is the art desk and one of my favorite places in the house. The other is my coffee bar because, well, there's coffee.
